We are seeking a Vice President of Enterprise Data to lead and unify our Enterprise Data organization. This executive will oversee Product Strategy, Product Management and Product Ownership, Engineering and Architecture, bringing strategic vision, operational excellence, and strong leadership to a function central to how we acquire, operate, and grow our business. The VP will be responsible for aligning data strategy with business objectives, championing data governance across the enterprise, and ensuring our data platforms deliver measurable value to stakeholders at every level of the organization.
This leader will serve as the primary executive voice for Enterprise Data, communicating strategy, progress, and priorities to the C-suite and board-level audiences. They will build a high-performing team culture while driving the prioritization and delivery of data capabilities that support both real-time operations and long-term strategic planning.

What You’ll Do
Team Leadership & Organizational Development
Report to the Head of Technology and provide executive leadership over the Enterprise Data organization, including Directors of Data Product and Data Engineering & Architecture
Build and lead a high-performing organization of 30+ data professionals (onshore, nearshore, offshore) across product management, product ownership, and engineering
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and servant leadership; drive career development, succession planning, and talent acquisition to scale the organization
Champion cross-functional collaboration between data teams, the broader Technology org, business stakeholders, and executive leadership
Executive Communication & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary executive liaison for the Enterprise Data team, communicating strategy, progress, risks, and outcomes to the HoT, CIO, CFO, and C-suite
Develop board-ready materials, executive dashboards, and strategic updates that translate complex technology data initiatives into clear business impact
Collaborate as part of the Technology Leadership Team with heads of Engineering, Product, ePMO, Security, Infrastructure, and Shared Services
Build and maintain strong relationships with analytics, data science, and senior leaders across all business functions
Strategy & Prioritization
Define and own the multi-year the Enterprise Data team strategy aligned with the company’s 3-year strategic plan, annual priorities, and technology roadmap
Lead portfolio-level prioritization across data product and engineering workstreams, balancing feature development, tech debt, modernization, compliance, and cost optimization
Evaluate the data technology landscape and make strategic investment decisions on platforms, tools, and vendor partnerships
Data Governance & Compliance
Establish an enterprise-wide data governance framework encompassing data quality, lineage, catalog, metadata, master data management, and access controls
Partner with Internal Audit, Legal, Risk, and Security to ensure SOX compliance, data protection regulations (CCPA), and enterprise security standards
Own technology data standards, policies, and SLAs; ensure appropriate controls and audit trails to support the company’s risk profile as a publicly traded REIT
Operational Excellence & Delivery
Oversee end-to-end delivery of data products, platforms, and engineering solutions with high quality, on-time delivery, and measurable business outcomes
Drive SDLC, CI/CD, change management, and release management best practices; ensure platform reliability, performance, and cost efficiency
Manage the data technology budget, vendor relationships, and resource allocation to maximize ROI
Who We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
15+ years progressive experience in data management, engineering, product management, and/or enterprise analytics
8+ years in senior leadership managing directors, senior managers, and large cross-functional teams (30+ people)
Track record building and scaling enterprise data organizations in publicly traded companies with SOX compliance
Experience managing multi-million-dollar technology budgets and vendor relationships
Preferred: real estate, SFR, multifamily, finance, hospitality, or retail industry experience
Technical Knowledge
Modern data platforms and architecture: Data Lakes, EDW, data modeling, ETL/ELT, and BI solutions
Strong Snowflake experience (architecture, optimization, governance); hands-on Tableau familiarity
Data orchestration, observability, catalog, lineage, quality, and security tooling
Data-as-Code practices, CI/CD for data pipelines, and modern SDLC methodologies
Knowledge of CCPA, SOX, and applicable data protection regulations
Leadership & Skills
Exceptional executive presence; ability to communicate complex data concepts to C-suite, board, and non-technical audiences
Outcome-oriented servant leader with outstanding storytelling and the ability to translate technical strategy into business value
Strong strategic thinker who balances long-term vision with near-term execution; proven ability to influence across a matrixed organization
Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Office suite
Preferred Certifications
Formal training or certifications in data management, data science, analytics, or AI (e.g., Snowflake, Tableau, dbt)
Physical and Mental Demands
This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also require occasional lifting of supplies and materials, up to 20 pounds, in addition to reaching, stooping, standing, and walking. This position requires the ability to speak, listen, compare, compute, compile, copy, analyze, coordinate, synthesize, negotiate, and communicate effectively. Salary Range
The salary range for this position is: $177,825.00 - $308,230.00, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.Compensation and Benefits
