The ideal candidate for our Sr. Manager, Technical Accounting and Reporting position enjoys assessing and documenting technical accounting issues, communicate complex accounting topics, experience in external and internal financial reporting, possesses an innate desire for continuous innovation, and thrives in a collaborative environment that involves effective communication with our business partners across the organization.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a key expert on US GAAP, ensuring proper application of accounting standards across the organization through assessment and documentation.
- Lead the technical accounting research of complex accounting topics to determine potential impact to the Company.
- Update and/or review annual accounting memos and maintain accounting policies for the Company.
- Assess complex business transactions that require a sophisticated level of technical judgement and communicate findings to accounting leadership.
- Manage compliance with joint venture organizational and management agreements to ensure proper accounting is being recorded based on accounting standards.
- Communicate effectively with business partners in other functional groups, including senior leaders, providing insights and recommendations on technical accounting matters.
- Work closely with investor relations on all external reporting, earnings calls, and investor relations materials.
- Review and assist with preparation of the 10-K and 10-Q (and other SEC filings) when needed.
- Coordinate with the Company’s external auditors and help manage the quarterly review and year-end audit processes.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley for all accounting policy related controls.
- Actively supervise, coach, and develop SEC reporting team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 8-10 years of relevant experience in public accounting or financial reporting, with at least 3-5 years in technical accounting.
- Experience with GAAP and SEC related research and application of pronouncements and regulations.
- Experience in a publicly traded company preferred
- Real estate industry experience a plus.
- Must be able to produce high-quality work as part of a fast-paced, dynamic team.
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Active CPA license required.
Skills/Specialized Knowledge
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of Excel required.
- Use of SEC reporting software preferred (e.g. Workiva)
- Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to interpret and apply accounting standards.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be resourceful, strategic and possess excellent analytical abilities.
- Should be an energetic, self-starter capable of self-direction.
- Should be driven to deliver quality results on time, with a high degree of integrity and in a highly ethical and professional manner.
- Should be self-reliant and have strong initiative as well as possess solid business judgment.
- Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
Other Requirements:
- Hybrid work schedule (2 days minimum per week required in office)
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is: $84,225.00 - $145,990.00, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.Compensation and Benefits
