Located in our Dallas, TX corporate headquarters, the Sr. Analyst, Construction Lending within the Company’s Investment Management Group (IMG). The ideal candidate will be a key member of the construction lending team responsible for financial modeling, underwriting support, internal reporting, and providing cross-team assistance throughout the due diligence, closing, and servicing processes. This position reports to the Associate, Construction Lending, or above.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Financial Modeling & Underwriting: Perform initial financial modeling and analysis to support deal evaluation, including screening and underwriting of build-to-rent development and construction loan opportunities.
- Transaction Execution: Manage the full transaction process from term sheet execution through closing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and effective coordination across all stakeholders.
- Due Diligence Management: Support due diligence efforts by reviewing borrower financials, construction budgets, market studies, project plans, and third-party reports.
- Internal Reporting & Presentations: Prepare internal reports, investment memoranda, and loan committee presentation materials in collaboration with the Associate, providing clear recommendations to senior leadership.
- Pipeline Tracking: Track and manage a dynamic deal pipeline, maintaining visibility into deal status, key milestones, and upcoming opportunities.
- Loan Monitoring & Servicing: Monitor active construction loans by reviewing monthly draw requests, budget adherence, project schedules, and performance against underwriting assumptions.
- Market Research & Analysis: Conduct ongoing market research and competitive analyses to inform underwriting assumptions, identify risks, and support strategic decision-making.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to refining internal processes, reporting tools, and best practices to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability of the construction lending platform.
Education and/or Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field with a strong academic record required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2–4 years of professional experience with a multifamily or build-to-rent developer, lender, or related real estate investment platform.
- Underwriting Expertise: Demonstrated experience underwriting real estate investments, including strong financial modeling skills and the ability to analyze development budgets, pro formas, and construction loan structures.
- Transaction Execution: Proven ability to support deals from initial underwriting through due diligence, documentation, and closing.
- Loan Oversight: Familiarity with construction loan servicing, including draw requests, budget tracking, inspections, and project performance monitoring.
- Presentation Skills: Experience preparing investment materials, loan committee presentations, and portfolio updates for senior leadership strongly preferred.
- Pipeline Management: Ability to manage multiple active deals simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and consistently meet deadlines.
- Market Knowledge: Working knowledge of multifamily and build-to-rent development trends, construction risk factors, and lending market dynamics.
- Collaboration & Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to work collaboratively across originations, underwriting, construction management, and servicing functions, as well as interact professionally with senior leadership and external partners.
Skills/Specialized Knowledge
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.), including comfort and familiarity with advanced Excel functions
- Comfort and familiarity with basic finance and investment theory. Ability to read and comprehend financial statements
- High degree of intellectual curiosity and discipline required. Ability to demonstrate strong self-initiative, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines
- Knowledge of current single-family customer product demands, drivers, and trends
- Professional verbal, nonverbal, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is: $61,650.00 - $106,860.00, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.Compensation and Benefits
