Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide guidance to property management personnel on landlord/tenant matters including, but not limited to; dispute resolution, fair housing inquiries, housing voucher programs, homeowner’s associations, code compliance, and unlawful detainers
  • Prepare legal documentation, including settlement agreements  and resident correspondence
  • Manage open litigation and local regulatory inquiries through resolution
  • Provide assistance to and liaison with outside counsel in the administration of litigated matters; including assistance with responding to legal complaints, fact-finding and responding to discovery requests 
  • Review and process legal invoices
  • Distribute and manage legal holds
  • Provide support in identifying and driving departmental initiatives and objectives

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
  • Sound judgment and swift decision-making skills, including the proven ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong work ethic and proven ability to work successfully as a member of a high-functioning team
  • Aptitude with computers, internet search applications, MS Office
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree
  • 3 years’ experience in a legal office environment or property management experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Remote - preferred East Coast hours

*Role will be required to work eastern time zone hours, but work location can be flexible
