The ideal candidate for our Manager, Fixed Assets builds relationships, possesses an innate desire for continuous innovations, and thrives in a collaborative environment that involves effective communication with our business partners across the organization. Primary responsibilities include leading a team of accounting associates as well as reviewing and analyzing our acquisition and disposition activity (400+ transactions per month) while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and fixed assets module. Other responsibilities include working with other departments to understand their business units and impact on the financial statements and collaborating with other teams within the Accounting Department to ensure timely delivery of financial statements. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads and develops a team of accounting professionals by providing ongoing coaching, training, and mentorship.
  • Coordinates team efforts to meet reporting deadlines while ensuring accurate and timely preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements.
  • Identifies areas for process improvement and works with management to document changes and implement enhancements.
  • Analyzes large sets of data on an ad hoc basis and summarizes for management based on reporting needs.
  • Maintains the integrity of the general ledger and related Fixed Assets module encompassing over one million individually tracked fixed asset components.
  • Guides and reviews work completed by accounting associates for accuracy and completeness in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for understanding a variety of financial reports and the impact of the single-family rental business on results of operations.
  • Assists with external and internal audit requests (SOX Compliance, Internal Controls, annual financial statement audits, etc.).
  • Participates in Company-provided training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required.
  • Minium of five years of experience in accounting and financial statement preparation is required.
  • Minium of three years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Intermediate Excel expertise required; Yardi experience a plus.
  • Experience working with high volumes of data.

  • Ability to be at work on a regular and consistent basis; overtime may be required for this position.

Physical and Mental Demands

This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also entail light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds in addition to reaching, stooping, standing, and walking. This position requires the ability to talk, hear, compare, compute, compile, copy, analyze, coordinate, synthesize, negotiate, and communicate.
