We’re seeking a Cloud Engineer II to join a small, focused, and collaborative team to help implement and expand upon our cloud platform technologies. The ideal candidate has proficient knowledge to develop, maintain and troubleshoot infrastructure-as-code and backend cloud-based solutions using the latest technologies and tools. This role will be constantly learning from other team members through pair programming, collaboration and effective communication. You will engage with software engineering teams regularly to understand what they need as well as provide mentorship, guidance, and feedback. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Continuously define, document and advocate best practices, design standards and strategies for AWS infrastructure
  • Assist and lead designing, developing, documenting, testing, debugging and maintaining new and existing Terraform modules to provide ease of deployment to our software development teams as well as ensure our cloud infrastructure standards are met
  • Assist and lead designing, developing, documenting, testing, debugging and maintaining new and existing solutions for integration and automation of toil using technologies such as Terraform, AWS Serverless, and Go
  • Assist software engineering teams in the solution architecture of AWS infrastructure and give feedback on Terraform configurations
  • Identify and resolve defects of advanced scope using proper engineering tools and techniques such as debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers.
  • Exhibit advanced technical problem solving and debugging skills
  • Team player that is willing to do what it takes to help the team succeed.
  • Work collaboratively and professionally in a team environment to achieve objectives.
  • Write, test, commit, review, deploy and document code.
  • Anticipate and adapt to a changing business environment and requirements.
  • Collaborate and communicate with Stakeholders, and other teams in an agile work environment, including but not limited to design meetings, planning, stand ups, & retrospectives.
  • Participate regularly in Agile/Scrum activities and learn from experienced developers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • At least two (2) years of work experience in software development
  • At least one (1) year of work experience in cloud infrastructure

Preferred Qualifications and Requirements

  • Proficient with the Go programming language (golang)
  • Proficient with AWS technologies, specifically in the serverless domain such as Lambda, API Gateway, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, etc
  • Proficient knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and practical experience
  • Follows and promotes Agile practices and principles
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge, education, experience and/or training necessary to develop software in Go and Terraform
  • Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Provide logical and meaningful contributions in discussions and meetings
  • Provide feedback and guidance in code reviews
  • Understanding of AWS IAM and Networking is a plus
  • Understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases is a plus

Physical and Mental Demands

This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also entail light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds in addition to reaching, stooping, standing, and walking.
