The Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries to record property acquisitions and dispositions, setting up new fixed assets in the accounting system, and bank reconciliations.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare general ledger transactions necessary to record the ongoing acquisition and disposition of rental properties within the investment portfolio

• Prepare gain/loss reconciliations on asset sales

• Build Excel models that help analyze and automate the reconciliation process by converting system data into the formats needed for month-end reporting

• Assist with financial audits

• Assist in the documentation and review of accounting policies and procedures including suggested updates and improvements

Who We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance

• 2-5 years of experience in an accounting environment

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - currently certified or actively pursuing

• Real estate or property management experience preferred

• Experience with Yardi software preferred

• Advanced skills in Excel and proficient in other MS Office Suite products such as Microsoft Word

• Adaptable to new technology platforms and processes

• Strong written/oral and interpersonal communication skills; ability to communicate in a professional manner with a customer service focus

• Ability to problem solve and identify process improvement opportunities

• Frequent interaction with other departments and divisions

• Organized and flexible; with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines

• Accuracy; with the ability to reconcile accounting information and ensure systems data integrity
