Job Summary

The Utility Activation Coordinator role is responsible for analyzing utility bills, initiating or terminating utility service, preparing utility-related correspondence, interacting and providing guidance on behalf of the company with third party vendors, and providing superior customer service to residents.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with third party contractors to start and stop water, electric, gas, sanitation, and sewer services based on program parameters and market needs or requests from field office team members

  • Analyze utility bills, answer inquiries and resolve problems from field teams, residents and utility providers regarding water, electric, gas, sanitation and sewer bills

  • Prepare written correspondence to affiliates, field operations teams, utility providers and internal departments regarding utilities and bills

  • Complete and update information in the system of record database, including utility providers, service dates and pertinent billing notes

  • Demonstrate superior seamless customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation efficiency and fiscally responsible activity

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • At least 1 year of experience in property management or utilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field - preferred

Skills/Specialized Knowledge

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and Internet research

  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management systems  

  • Punctual and dependable

  • Utility customer service and billing operations

  • Superb accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Other Requirements

  • Must maintain professional appearance. 

  • Ability to be at work on a regular and consistent basis; Overtime may be required for this position. 

Physical and Mental Demands

This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also entail light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds in addition to reaching, stooping, standing, and walking. This position requires the ability to talk, hear, compare, compute, compile, copy, analyze, coordinate, synthesize, negotiate and communicate.
